Focus of the Role:

This role is in a fast-paced team, the Advisor will be responsible for providing management consulting skillsets to a team that primarily works on research and advocacy in the UK policy space. We are looking for an experienced management consultant who has experience working with the public sector, ideally in the UK or beyond and someone who has strong PPT and framework abilities.  

Typical duties

  • Develop highly synthesized presentations (typically in Powerpoint) and briefings that are ‘actionable’ for senior decision makers; condensing vast amounts of material and differing views into concise and well-structured actionable outputs
  • Bring a management consulting skillset (structuring, synthesis, visual presentation with a client orientation) towards policy facing work; i.e. assisting in the development of background briefing backs and/or material for senior policymakers to digest quickly and efficiently
  • Keep abreast of international and UK political developments, identify areas to expand the team’s policy focus
  • Framing team’s existing research and advocacy outputs in new formats to maximise impact
  • This role would be based in our London office, with limited client/external engagement as this work is largely to provide one of our internal teams with support in developing externally-ready material for other stakeholders and organisations that the Institute engages with
  • The role is part of a current team that we have in place at the Institute that is working across a few cross-cutting areas that impact policy in the UK

This is a role in a fast-paced team, working on complex delivery priorities that are highly scrutinised. Therefore the successful candidate for the role should be able to display the majority of the following:

  • Total 2-4 years of experience, which has to include at least 2 years of experience at a top-tier or boutique management consulting firm, with work experience in the UK and understanding of the UK policy context;
  • Strong critical thinking and ability to develop frameworks for analysing and explaining difficult information in accessible ways
  • Persuasive, highly articulate, and good at “selling” ideas
  • Excellent time and project management skills. Highly flexible, with the ability to juggle multiple priorities and adjust to changing circumstances.
  • Excellent PowerPoint abilities and have strong personal presentation skills both oral and written (the ability to draft high quality, concise, clear and well-structured documents is essential)
  • Flawless professional English language communications skills, written and oral
  • Relevant educational experience in political science, policy, economics, business or other related fields (Master's degree or equivalent is preferred)
