The Tony Blair Institute for Global Change is a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to making globalisation work for the many, not the few. We offer new thinking and new approaches to addressing some of the most intractable problems leaders today are wrestling with.

The Institute works to provide policy and strategy in support of a vision of globalisation designed to improve the well-being of the people, economically, politically, and socially. Our focus is on tackling the big challenges which hold such a vision of globalisation back:

  • Poor governance which stops the benefits of globalisation being shared because countries cannot build the institutional strength and resilience to transform their situation and deliver for their people
  • Extremism which stops the co-existence and cultural open-mindedness essential for social integration
  • Conflict which entrenches sectarianism and paralyses progress, particularly in the Middle East
  • Western politics which is in urgent need of a new agenda to provide radical but sensible answers to the new challenges presented by globalisation, technology, and the rise of a new false populism
Focus of the Role:
The duties of this post-holder are to:
  • To manage and develop the HRBP and Talent Acquisition Advisors from an individual and team perspective.
  • To lead the HR Business partnering and Talent Acquisition Advisors ensuring the provision of full generalist support, engaging, advising and influencing managers and client groups.
  • To provide innovative, pragmatic, solutions-focused support and input to designated client groups
  • To lead and manage the HR Business partner and Talent Acquisition Advisors to ensure that TBI is provided with comprehensive support and advice across a wide range of employment aspects including:
    • Resource planning
    • Role and structure design
    • Recruitment and selection
    • Employee engagement
    • Lead, develop and streamline HR process mapping to minimise bureaucracy and improve efficiency
  • Work closely with the People team colleauges responsible for Learning and Development, Employee Enagagement/Internal Communications, Rewards and Benefits, Legal, Data, Policies and procedures to ensure a seamless approach to the organisation.
  • Undertake other roles that support the above
    What We Look For in Our People:
    As an integral part of the People and Organisation Development team, you will play a crucial role in the delivery of all aspects of our activity and work actively to develop our ways of working to support the growth and development of TBI. This role will play a critical part of the wider central teams supporting the development of the organisation.You’ll want to maximise the use of technology to help us deliver. You need to understand the full potential of people and organisation development and be curious and want to learn and develop yourself and the team. You need to be flexible and adaptable and able to adapt your style to successfully influence and get things done across the organisation.

    Therefore the successful candidate for the role should be able to display the majority of the following:

    • Experience of working in a ‘business partner’ model engaging with and influencing managers
    • Providing both strategic and operational advice and support at a senior level
    • Extensive experience of managing a recruitment function
    • Managing teams
    • Resilient, flexible and confident
    • Strong influencing, problem solving and communication skills
    • Act with discretion and confidentiality when dealing with sensitive information
    • Innovative and tenacious
    • Strong organisation and prioritisation skills and able to carry out multiple projects simultaneously
    • Collaborative working style to lead with a light touch and network effectively across the organisation
    • Self starter, self sufficient, determined and a team player.

    Organisational relationships

    • Managing the team of one HR Business Partner and 2 Talent Acquisition Advisors.
    • Working as part of the People and Organisation Development management team.
    • Working closely with all members of the People and Organisation Development team, ExCo members, External comms, Managers across TBI.
