The Tony Blair Institute is a not-for-profit organisation that works with leaders around the world to promote an open and progressive vision for the future.
 

Our Technology and Public Policy team focuses on the challenges and opportunities arising from new technologies. Our mission is to take the best thinking on the key issues and turn it into politically realistic policy and strategy, so that progressive leaders in tech and in politics are armed with the arguments necessary to prevail.

Focus of the Role:
This is an exciting opportunity to join the Institute as a key member of our growing Technology and Public Policy team.

Our Policy Analysts investigate topics like:

  • The ways that tech-based companies are disrupting old industries
  • The ethical questions arising from radical advances in medical technologies
  • The new forms of politics and participation made possible by the Internet
  • The challenges and opportunities facing the cities of the future
  • The ways government needs to change to reflect the modern world

You will use your curiosity and critical thinking skills to help the team master complex topics in technology policy, and work collaboratively with your colleagues to develop radical, practical solutions. You will also support the wider work of the team including preparation for external engagement and events.

Key responsibilities for the role include:

  • Conducting rigorous policy research and analysis
  • Using structured problem solving techniques to identify solutions
  • Writing accessible policy reports and briefings
  • Staying abreast of the latest thinking in your areas of work
  • Building a professional network with peers in your field
  • Working closely with colleagues across the Institute

The role will be based in London, with occasional international travel.

You will have the following skills, knowledge and experience:

  • A good degree demonstrating analytical thinking and creativity
  • A keen interest in technology, politics and public policy
  • An ability to organise your work and deliver results quickly
  • Strong written and spoken communication skills
  • Good self-awareness and ability to work well with others

The following are also desirable:

  • Experience writing for a public audience
